After posting "California Update" as an article, we sensed the need to add a blog to this site for a more informal outlet of expressing our observations on a variety of issues, subjects, and life. This month marks our 1 year anniversary of this website and it has been a blessing to serve you by writing the articles and posts up on this site. For the past two or three months I have sensed the Lord directing us to start posting a "blog".
Permit me to share how this all started.
Writing the book, "The Tithe That Binds" was the off shoot of our personal study on the subject of tithing. That is touched on in the "About Us" page on this site. There are some details that may interest you concerning that book and this site. When the book was in the writing stage, at one point I sought the Lord for the title as I wanted HIM to name it. For three days we prayed for a title and on the third day, He gave us the name of it.
My intention never was to avoid tithing, which we did for 24 years.
It was only after I asked the Lord to establish the truth about tithing from scripture rather than merely repeating what I had been taught all those years, that the truth became obvious. We had been perfectly willing to continue the practice of tithing and that is what I told the Father in prayer. The Lord told me "start reading the New testament". With that, I began a fresh reading and study of the New Testament scriptures.
Last year, the Lord began to speak to me to "Go and get a website". Much foot-dragging followed as I was a babe-in-the-woods concerning website building and techincalities. God kept gently reminding me and finally in prayer I told Him "If you want me to have a website, you need to send me help because I don't have a CLUE about how to do it!"
Do you know that within 3 hours I was on the phone with A Christian man who develops websites. This happened through an unusual chain of circumstances beginning with me calling an old friend I had not spoken to in several years, when I "accidently" came across his phone number in an old calendar out in the garage!
Our website began to become a reality but once again, we needed a name. We were told by several website-literate people it is extremely difficult to get a "web" domain name as so many are already taken and many others simply reserved and unavailable. Again we turned to the Lord for a name. After 3 days, I sensed the words "PrepareHisWay" and a quick search confirmed this name was available! Praise God!
This served to confirm His Calling and ministry to God's people. A second confirmation that still continues working in our lives is the inspiration and material the Lord gives us to write about. We have asked Him that we would write what HE wants us to write, and many times in the process of writing an article or Bible study, I have stopped because I felt that I was writing from my fleshly mind and our writing needs to be directed through the Holy Spirit.
Because of our dependence on the Lord, there are times we will post multiple articles in a short time, and sometimes a month may go by. We also receive emails and questions which are answered as the Lord directs, and we count it an act of serving Jesus when we can encourage or minister to others.
The Lord has also bleesed us greatly with some friends from around the country who pray for us and encourage us. Darren in Pennsylvania is one and Rick, a radio host in Louisiana are especially precious to us. If you are a "wilderness" Christian, we encourage you also to prayerfully seek GODLY friendships whether in person, email, or phone.
